Pughoboto public advised not to politicise Covid-19 pandemic

Dimapur, April 18 (EMN): NPF legislator from 13 Pughoboto assembly constituency, Y Vikheho Swu, has sought collective effort from all sections of the people in the fight against the Convid-19 pandemic and said that the global pandemic should not be politicised in the larger interest of humanity and economic sustainability.

Swu stated this during a meeting with the officials from district administration, police, medical, food and civil supplies, representatives from NGOs and adhoc town committee on April 17 held in the office of the additional deputy commissioner, Pughoboto. He visited Pughoboto to take stock of the preparedness on Covid-19 in the sub-division, an update from Pughoboto administration stated on April 18.

Presenting report on the activities undertaken by the Medical department, SMO Dr. Hokugha Sema stated that the CHC at Pughoboto is working on a war footing daily to handle any eventuality in the subdivision. He stated that a quarantine centre and an isolation ward with two beds and oxygen facility have been set up in Pughoboto with the assistance from the district administration.

He informed that CHC Pughoboto had received 20 PPE from the government but were of inferior quality which would not shield the doctors and medical personnel from the Covid-19. He added that 200 bottles (500 ml) hand sanitiser and 200 face masks were also received but with N95 masks. He stated that sanitisers were distributed to all medical sub-centres in Pughoboto sub-division.

Report from Food and Civil Supplies department stated that Ghatashi PDS had received 258 quintals of rice under PHH and 89 quintals of rice under AAY, while the Pughoboto PDS, which has been allocated 340 quintals of rice under PHH scheme and 89 quintals of rice under AAY were yet to reach Pughoboto.

It was informed that under PMGKS, all ration card holders would be getting 5 kg of rice during the Covid-19 lockdown period. Besides, NSDMA has also allotted 300 bags (50 kg each) rice especially for the migrant and stranded labourers, daily wage earners, old age homes, orphanages, hostels etc. It stated that the district administration would distribute after examining the number of targeted groups in the sub-division.

SDPO Pughoboto Tizhi Pojar informed that three (24×7) check posts at Asukiqa area, Lazami-Pughoboto entry point and Ghatashi have been set up in the sub-division since March 26. He added that all inter-district movement of vehicles has been restricted except for medical emergency, essential commodities.

He also informed that no protective gears were issued for the police against Covid-19 except surgical masks and sanitisers. He further informed that at present there are only about 50 police personnel with two vehicles in Pughoboto, who are manning the police stations at Pughoboto, Ghatashi, and three check posts.

ADC Pughoboto Moa Lemtor stated that all logistics are in place and the district administration is doing every possible step to execute the orders and directives of the government. He stated that vehicular permits to go outside Pughoboto are issued only for medical emergencies and for essential commodities.

He said Dobashis are assisting the police at the check posts and added that there is no shortage of essential commodities till date.

Later, the MLA along with the officers visited the CHC Pughoboto.
