Nagaland’s fin weight fighter Prince Kumar opened state’s medal account in the ongoing three day 32nd National Taekwondo championship and 6th National Senior taekwondo Poomse Championship at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium in Imphal. Prince Kumar bagged bronze in 54 kg category while his counterparts from Kerala (Akbar), Akash Singh (Manipur) and Sunil Kumar (Haryana) got gold, silver and bronze respectively.  It may be noted that a total of 13 member Nagaland team including 10 players and 3 officials are participating in the championship. The other hopeful players of Nagaland P Siles (welter weight) and Bokti (bantam weight) will be playing tomorrow. Nagaland team is led by manager Theja and coaches- AK Shyambijoy Singh and Seejievilie. The ongoing championship organised by All Manipur Taekwondo Association is participated by 750 players (400 males and 350 females) representing 32 teams of the country and 75 technical and Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI) officials.
Interestingly TFI is using electronic gadgets which were used in the London Olympics to avoid any cheating during the championship which was telecast live in the local cable TV network in Manipur. So far Uttar Pradesh got two golds, Kerala, Goa, Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh got one gold each.
