Dimapur, June 28 (EMN): Office of the Electrical Inspectorate has informed the public to mandatorily obtain ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) from its office after installing Diesel Generator (DG) sets.

In a notification, Chief Electrical Inspector, Er. IV Chishi stated that under provision of Indian Electricity Act, 1956 section 4(A) 47, 47(A), 48, 61 and 67 all concerned should mandatorily obtain NOC after installing DG sets. He added that the same would be applicable even those who have already installed and using the DG sets.

He cautioned that penalty as applicable would be imposed after determining the seriousness of the case for failing to comply with the notification.

The notification was issued as there has been cases of electric current “back charging” due to faulty connections, improper earthing while installing DG sets by private, commercial and government departments for providing back up during normal power supply interruptions.

He added that putting on of DG sets by private parties cause fatal electrical accident to the staff who, after taking proper shut down of the faulty or DL, gets electric shock due to the back current on the faulty distribution line.
