Poshan Maah celebration culminates in Kohima

A culmination programme of the month-long Poshan Maah 2021 (National Nutrition month) celebration for Kohima district was held on September 30 at Highland Park on the theme ‘Converging towards a healthy walk through life.’

Addressing at the programme, the special guest and EAC of Kohima, Dziesengunuo Mere emphasised on the need to target on the health of mother and child stating that healthy population is vital for the progress of the nation.

She congratulated the concerned department for carrying out all the activities along with the stakeholders in the past month despite of the pandemic. She hoped that Poshan Maah activities would ensure the objectives of both mother and child nutrition.

She further conveyed best wishes to the departments in carrying forward the programme in achieving their set targets.

Sohile Tep, district coordinator of Kohima Poshan, while highlighting the report on Poshan Maah 2021, informed that there are 14,516 beneficiaries in the district. She apprised that 4,422 activities with as many as 70,806 participants from the community were conducted in the month-long celebration.

Neingu Kulnu, centre coordinator of Childline Kohima, stated that they were all working together under the same umbrella and trying to reach out to every corner of the state with different departments and stakeholders for those children in need of protection and care.

While hoping to coordinate with the staff of Poshan Kohima in the days to come, she asked to dial 1098 or visit them if they see any child in distress.

Citations were also handed over to the winners of recipe and pickle making competitions held for both Aganwadi centres (AWCs) and self help groups (SHG) during the programme.

In the recipe competition held for the AWCs, Nini Semp from Guju village bagged the first position, while Seyievinuo Noho of Kezoma village and Soninle from Tesophenyu village bagged the second and third positions respectively.

In the pickle making competition held for SHGs, Ruokuomenuo from Nerhema village bagged the first position, while Neizonuo from Zhadima vilage and Toso Naleo from Viswema village bagged the second and third positions respectively.

A total of 36 persons participated in various activities during Poshan Maah 2021.
