Phek District Maytas-Gayatri Damaged Victim Association postpones proposed agitation again
DIMAPUR — The Phek District Maytas-Gayatri Damaged Victim Association (PDMGDVA) has decided to postpone its proposed third phase of agitation following a meeting with Minister for Power and Parliamentary Affairs, KG Kenye on Wednesday.
The third phase of agitation was supposed to begin from December 14 onwards, informed an update from the association.
‘The minister’s appeal for postponement of the agitation was reciprocated by the association, as he also assured to put up the matter during the state Cabinet meeting scheduled for December 15,’ read the press release.
It, however, appealed to the state Cabinet to ensure clearance of the pending matter and release the damage compensation at the earliest so as to avert any further agitation.
It may be mentioned that the association launched its first phase of agitation on December 9 by blocking Zunheboto-Chakhabama road and Pfutsero-Phek road in Phek district for 12 hours, before extending the agitation to 24 hours in the second phase on December 11.
The association has resorted to protest over the prolonged delay in release of compensation for damages caused to infrastructure along two road projects in Phek district.
