Pangteang asks Home Guards to develop state security’s condition

Parliamentary Secretary for Home Guards, EE Pangteang has asked the officers of the Home Guards to develop a ‘concrete comprehensive action plan’ for alleviation and development of the Home Guard organization in Nagaland.
He was addressing the first departmental co-ordination meeting on May 19 at the Home Guards’ headquarters in Kohima town.Pangteang expressed gratitude to the personnel of the Home Guards for their dedicated services rendered to the people of state “including delivering of smooth flow of vehicles during peak hour especially in Kohima and Dimapur”. He requested them to continue rendering their services in the same spirit. He asked the officers to come up with concrete comprehensive action plan for alleviation and development of the Home Guard organization in Nagaland. On his part, the politician assured to pursue the agenda in his capacity.
The parliamentary secretary also urged the officers and staff of the organization to renew their dedication to serve the people and seek their support for ‘good team work’ to achieve their goals in the days to come.
Additional Director of Civil Defense & Deputy Commandant of the General Home Guards, Medozhalie Pienyu, gave a brief presentation about the activities of the department. He spoke about the Home Guards’ structure, duties, plans and proposals of the department.
Pienyu explained that the activities of the Civil Defense and Home Guard personnel not only included performing law and order duties but also helping the community during emergencies. He said that the department has imparted training to the State Disaster Response Force drawing one company each for the Nagaland Armed Police (Indian Reserve), District Executive Force and the Village Guards.
He also apprised the parliamentary secretary of a proposal to enhance the wages of the Home Guards’ personnel from Rs 150 per head per day to Rs 300 per head per day. He briefed the parliamentary secretary on the proposal to create a ‘border wing battalion’ as well as opening Civil Defense & Home Guard establishments in three districts namely Longleng, Kiphire and Peren district.
A brief introduction was given by Director of General Civil Defense & Home Guards, Lungriading, during the event.
