Over 8,000 women-owned MSMEs registered in Nagaland

DIMAPUR — Nagaland has a total of 8,024 women-owned micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), according to the Udyam registration portal (URP). This comprises 7,992 microenterprises, 29 small enterprises, and three medium enterprises.

This information was provided by the Minister of State for MSMEs, Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma, in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha on Monday.

According to the URP of the Ministry of MSME, women-owned MSMEs in Nagaland have contributed employment to the tune of 46,698. Also, these women-owned MSMEs have generated a turnover of INR 813.23 crore, with an investment of INR 215.08 crore under Udyam since its inception on July 1, 2020, until January 31, 2024.

The minister further informed that, according to the data on the Udyam Assist Platform (UAP), which registers informal micro enterprises (IMEs), women owned a total of 10,978 IMEs in Nagaland, contributing to a total of 12,379 employment opportunities.

Verma highlighted that, based on URP, women-owned MSMEs make up 20.5% (4,667,278) of the total number of registered MSMEs (22,819,417) on the portal since its inception.

The contribution of women-owned MSMEs to the employment generated by all Udyam registered units is 18.73%, accounting for 28,407,069 jobs. These businesses also contribute 11.15% of the total investment, amounting to INR 126,845.12 crore out of the overall investment of INR 1,137,237 crore. Additionally, women-owned MSMEs make up 10.22% of the total turnover of Udyam registered MSMEs, equivalent to INR 1,714,992.98 crore.

As per data from UAP, women own 70.49% of the total number of IMEs since the inception of the Udyam Assist portal on January 11, 2023. This translates to 9,108,058 women-owned IMEs. Additionally, these enterprises play a crucial role in employment, representing 70.84% of the total and generating 11,023,945 jobs.
