Dimapur, March 7 (EMN): With an aim to spread awareness about oral health hygiene, a one-day oral health awareness camp was held at Tikenvong village under Pungro sub-division in Kiphire district on February 27. The oral health camp was conducted under the leadership of Dr. Weri Mero, dental surgeon from Pungro CHC.
An update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Kiphire, stated that a total of 120 cases were registered wherein 50 oral prophylaxis, 18 extraction, 12 root stump, 10 temporary filling, and 30 fluoride applications were performed during the camp.
It stated that members from the village health committee, village council and the residents took active part during the event. The camp was organised to promote good oral health and dental hygiene by taking into consideration that an unhealthy mouth, especially gum disease could increase risk of serious health problems such as heart attack, stroke, poorly controlled diabetes, and pattern problems.
