Kohima, May 29 (EMN): In a tragic incident, 21-year-old youth identified as Savizo Tsükrü, son of Meyiezol Tsükrü was killed in a hit-and-run case by an unknown vehicle on National Highway-29 near Viswema village in Kohima district.
General secretary of Viswema Youth Organisation (VYO), Mhashekhol Kennao informed that they could not ascertain the time when the incident happened. He added that Manipur truck drivers and CRPF personnel, who were on duty, found the body and reported it to Khuzama police station.
In a press release, VYO expressed sadness over the tragic incident, which happened either during the late evening of May 23 or during the dawn of May 24.
While empathising with the bereaved family, VYO expressed anguish over the “inhumane and the barbaric act” of the unknown driver, who fled the scene leaving its member to suffer the most crucial death.
The organisation also urged the law enforcing authority to expedite its investigation process to apprehend the culprit at the earliest and book him under the law.
Kennao also told this newspaper that the body was ‘battered so badly’ that he could not recognise and identify him, though he was known to him, when he was called by the police.
“His mobile was also not in condition but through the sim card, we were able to trace some of his relatives and slowly traced his parents,” he shared. He also informed that the family members of the victim refused to send the body for the post-mortem. He further informed that the police have registered a case on the matter.
