Dimapur — As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) 2.0, Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) has launched ‘Promotion of digital transactions at GP level campaign’ in Phaipijang village under Dimapur district on March 23 in the presence of banks and common service centres (CSC).

An update from NSRLM stated that digital transactions are being facilitated to the rural community by the women SHG members, who identified and designated as business correspondent (BC) Sakhi. It informed that the campaign would be conducted in different 129 locations throughout the state till August 15.

Speaking on the launch event, Ksh. Rameshwar Singh, manager-FI, SBI RBO Dimapur, has shared on the importance of healthy relationship between the banks and customers. He assured to the SHG of Phaipijang village to take up cases of the trained and certified SHG members for appointment at customer service point (CSP) through the common service centre (CSC).

Lanusosang Jamir, state head of CSC, spoke on ‘digital service’ and introduced the BC Sakhi of Phaipijang village. He explained on how BC can provide man services such as e-district services, consultation service, various bank products etc.

He, therefore, requested the community to help and support the BC Sakhi in order to make everyone’s lives easier in Phaipijang village.

In his keynote address, Rajuselie Lhousa, state programme manager- financial inclusion (SPMFI), informed that the campaign is a national movement to promote digital transaction in the villages and provide financial services at the doorstep of the rural population in India. The campaign was launched at the national level on February 1, 2023.

During the course of the campaign, he stated that baseline survey, increase in transactions, community talk on the importance of digital transactions as an alternate banking activity etc. would be conducted till August 15. He shared about Lamneilhing Doungel, a business correspondent (BC) sakhi from Phaipijang village, who is performing well in transactions as well as the value of transactions.

He sensitised on the importance and benefit of a BC sakhi in providing service to the rural population in the near future. The primary advantages included saving expenditure of going to the bank branch, saving one’s time and energy. It also helps the neighborhood residents even during off-hours of banking and in times of emergencies.

Later, he launched the state-level campaign on ‘Promotion of digital transactions at GP level.’

It mentioned that there are 150 SHG members already trained from RSETI in Peren district and certified by IIBF.

Lamneilhing Doungel, BC sakhi of IDBI-CSC; Atele Mero, BC sakhi by IDBI-CSC under Chumukedima block; and Waizenla, bank sakhi under Chumukedima; also spoke on the occasion.

Altogether, 76 participants including SHG members and their family members, school teachers, church leaders, local government representatives (PRI/VC) and other rural community attended the campaign launch programme.
