[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he recently formed NSCN (Reformation) led by Wangtin Naga and P. Tikhak has forwarded a cease-fire proposal to Lt Gen NK Singh, Chairman, Cease-Fire Monitoring Group (CFMG) on April 13. The proposal contains an offer from the NSCN(R) to enter into a fresh cease-fire agreement with the Govt of India. The NSCN(R) proposal states that after the unilateral abrogation of cease-fire by SS Khaplang and expulsion of Wangtin Naga and P Tikhak for attending the Ceasefire meeting at Chumukedima on March 27, the NSCN (K) split into two on the issue of continuation of cease-fire, namely anti-cease fire and pro-cease-fire groups.
It further states that several Kilonsers, CCMs, regional authorities, secretaries and army officers have supported Wangtin Naga and re-affirmed to continue the cease-fire with Govt of India.
A statement issued by CFMG, NSCN (Reformation) said, Wangtin Naga has approached the chairman, CFSB expressing desire for fresh cease-fire agreement with Governmentt of India in the interests of peace, and to convey the proposal of NSCN(R) to New Delhi.
The Chairman, CFMG has stated that generally the stand of the Govt of India in such cases has been that in principle, any constructive proposals for cease-fire can be examined if they lead to facilitating genuine peace and development for the people in Nagaland.
The proposal of NSCN(R) is being forwarded to the Govt of India who would examine it in the context of the presently prevailing situation in Nagaland.
Further actions will be taken depending on the response of Govt of India to the cease-fire proposal of NSCN (Reformation), the statement said.
