Dimapur, April 8 (EMN): The NSCN (IM) has denounced an alleged raid at the residence of a Z James Angami, ‘kilonser’ by the 3rd Assam Rifles in Kohima village.
The organisation’s MIP issued a press resale on Saturday stating that it was “unwarranted on the part” of the security forces to “engage themselves in hostile activities under the pretext of specific information.”
The MIP stated: “The NSCN/GPRN strongly condemns the raid at the residence of Mr. Z. James Angami, Kilonser and a Member of Cease-Fire Monitoring Cell (CFMC), Kohima in-charge by the 3 Assam Rifles under the command of Major Narendra on 8thApril 2017 from 1.25 a.m till 2.45 a.m at Kohima village.”
In spite of “identifying himself as a card holder” and a member of the Cease-Fire Monitoring Cell, the press release stated, the Assam Rifles alleged that he owned a Chinese rifle and “insisted in surrendering the same weapon.”
Having denied that he possessed such a rifle “even if he had he is entitle being a card holder”, the security personnel “forcefully ransacked the rooms of his building thereby causing mental trauma to his wife and children and creating fear psychosis in the minds of nearby public,” the press release from the NSCN (IM() stated.
The organisation alleged further that “they did not spare even kitchen utensils, children’s school bags and the purse of his wife.” The major allegedly “even allowed the cadres to intrude in to the room of his daughter without permission.”
However, the MIP stated, “it failed to bear any witnesses to their nefarious design and ill motives.”
“It is unwarranted on the part of the AR to engage themselves in hostile activities under the pretext of specific information, which not only violate cease-fire ground rules but also sow seeds of mistrust between the two negotiating parties,” the MIP stated.
While condemning the raid, the NSCN (IM) has declared that “such provocation is not the first time and if uncheck will have a serious ramification in considering the initiative towards a lasting final solution to the on-going political talks.”
The government of India should fix responsibility “upon the erring officer for such unjustifiable action,” the group’s press release added.
