Dimapur, September 30: NSCN (IM) has strongly condemned the alleged ‘adventurism’ of Maj. Rahul and his boys of 35 Assam Rifles, Senapati Outpost of Maram Battalion, who vitiated the peaceful atmosphere by detaining Naga army officers while they were on peaceful duty on September 28.

NSCN (IM) through its MIP said the Naga army officers identified as Captain PK Akas, Lieutenat Ashang Kashung and Cpl. N Elvis were detained while they were on official duty monitoring law and order situation for peaceful maintenance against destructive elements, who have from time to time created situation including threat to civilian lives such as bombing etc.

It said terming the Naga army, who were on government official duties, as extortionist and involving in nefarious activities was highly questionable. It testified that the three detained Naga army officers were never indulged in tax collection as falsely alleged by the Assam Rifle.

NSCN (IM) advised the Assam Rifle to help create peaceful atmosphere to co-exist rather than create unwanted problems and situations. On its part, it said NSCN are fully committed respecting new relationship being worked out between India and Nagalim. It, therefore, urged all concerned to be contributive in creating peaceful atmosphere.

NSCN strongly condemned the irresponsible act of 35 Assam Rifle for flexing its muscle power with brute force where it was not necessary. It said the broken legs and torturous marks all over the body was clear indication of third degree torture. It questioned on the need for such treatment during ceasefire?

Meanwhile, NSCN has appreciated the people of Senapati, civil societies particularly the Naga People’s Organisation Senapati (NPO), Senapati District Women Association (SDWA), Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) and Senapati Karong Women Association (SKWA) for their timely intervention and standing up to voice against the injustice meted out to the Naga people.
