DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 30: The armed militants operating in and around Indo-Burma border region of Ukhrul district today made a waylaid ambushed at 31 AR patrolling troops in the wee hours around 2:30 am at Kamjong area of Kangpat village, Ukhrul.
According to reliable sources, the 31 Assam Rifles personnel were conducting routine patrol at the border area monitoring the movements of armed militants inside the Indian Territory from the Myanmar side.
The armed militants attacked the 31 AR patrolling troops and ensued an exchange of fire for few minutes before they sneaked into the dense border forest. The incident occurred near the border pillar no. 96 which is located at extreme south of the village Kangpat in Kamjong block under Chassad police station, Ukhrul district.
The unconfirmed report said, one AR officer sustained bullet injuries at his leg during the incident. However, the details of the incident could not be ascertained in the time of filing report. So far no armed group has claimed responsibility.
