Dimapur, April 28 (EMN): Naga People’s Front (NPF) expressed confidence of forming the next government in the State under the leadership of its president Dr. Shurhozielie Liezietsu.
NPF Media Cell said this in response to the resignation of Chingwang Konyak, former Member of Parliament and former Political Advisor to the Chief Minister. Reacting to the resignation letter, NPF today said he was never a member of the party and attributed his resignation to acquiring cheap publicity and create confusion in the minds of the people.While acknowledging receipt of a resignation letter from Chingwang Konyak, NPF Media Cell said the same was expected as some politically frustrated individuals have been doing some ground works to form a new political party for some time now to ‘destabilise the NPF-led DAN government and damage the NPF party itself.’
While agreeing that anyone can start a political party and participate in the democratic process, NPF said it was ‘most unbecoming’ on the part of a person in the stature of former MP to stoop so low as to resign from a party, he never belonged, to for the sake of a few ‘brownie points’ in the media.
‘Anyhow, with elections less than a year away, it shall not be very surprising to find in the local newspapers resignations of few disgruntled individuals and political opportunists in the days to come,’ NPF Media Cell said.
It, however, urged the party rank and file of the NPF to remain steadfast under the leadership of party president Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu saying the party is confident of forming the next government after the elections in 2018.
Meanwhile, it appealed to the general public not to be swayed away by absurd political propaganda spread by politically-vested interests.
