NPCC observes Tokyo Olympics

Dimapur, July 23 (EMN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on Friday observed the opening ceremony of Tokyo Olympics 2020 at the state stadium in Dimapur.

It was informed that the programme was organised to draw the attention of the state government to expedite the construction of the long overdue state stadium.

Speaking on the occasion, NPCC president K Therie appreciated the first Naga Olympian Dr. T Ao and Archer Chekrovolu Swuro, informed the press release received from the party.

He, however, lamented that Swuro represented Jharkhand state in the Olympics as Nagaland government could not support her through her training.

Therie also lamented that Nagaland continued to struggle, failing to complete the state stadium, which was started more than three decades  ago while the neighbouring states have produced world class sportsmen and women.

The programme was marked by performances by NK Naga, Tokhuli Yepthomi, Aloboli Kinimi, Lipok and Kevin Newar. NPCC vice president V Lasuh delivered the invocation prayer. The event was jointly organised by NPYC, DCC Dimapur and supported by the minority department and Kissan cell of NPCC and the NSUI, DMCC ,and DYC.
