DIMAPUR — Members of Mothers and Widows’ Association of Phek, who are currently on National Integration Tour (NIT) to Delhi visited Rashtrapati Bhavan and Shastri Bhavan on October 18 and interacted with Smriti Irani, Union minister of Women and Child Development and Minority Affairs.
A defence release stated that the minister motivated the ladies and inspired them to keep working for women development.
The team also visited the India Gate and National War Memorial wherein they paid homage to brave hearts. It added that visit to shopping malls are in the pipeline.
The tour, organised by Phek battalion of the Assam Rifles under the aegis of the Inspector General of Assam Rifles, North (IGAR-N), was flagged off on October 15 in Phek town by its commandant, Col. Prashant Singh Chunduwat.
The tour was aimed at providing opportunity to the women of Phek district to venture beyond the Northeast region and explore various inspirational and renowned institutions of national eminence.
The tour would culminate on October 23.
