Nightwarriors Pungro win 14th Saramati Soccer Championship

Dimapur, Dec. 16 (EMN): The 14th edition of the Saramati Soccer Championship 2022 concluded on Friday with Khalenmew Yimchunger, Former Church and Mission Secretary, YBBA as special guest. He lauded the organising committee of championship and appealed the gathering on the need to change the perception about sports. He also encouraged sports lover to strive harder and higher to excel in sports. He also lauded the New Education Policy (NEP) which elevates sports from co-curricular activity to a major part of education.

The final match was tightly fought between Surayin FC and Nightwarriors Pungro. Eventually the latter emerged as champions surpassing the former 1-0. The skipper of Nightwarriors Pungro scored the decider for the tourney.

Nightwarriors Pungro received INR 70,000, while the runner-up recived INR 40,000. The losing semi-finalists, United XI FC and United Friends Club Pungro received 10,000 each.

Rokhum (Pungro Vikings) won the best young player; Toso (Nightwarriors Pungro) won the golden glove; Shotsangba (Surayin FC) won the golden boot and Johnny (Nightwarriors Pungro) won the golden ball.
