Dimapur, June 23 (EMN): Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) has urged to release running bills to the contractors based on the progress report to which the department of PWD (R&B) assured to sort it out with the higher authorities for an early intervention on the issue.

NFHRCC made this suggestion during a joint meeting with the officials from PWD (R&B) and concerned contractors held in the conference hall of the Directorate of PWD in Kohima on June 22. The meeting was convened to discuss the ongoing construction of the ‘motorable’ foothills road and the final completion of the Doyang bridge.

NFHRCC stated that division-wise progress works were shared by the respective executive engineers and the contractors. It was informed that the momentum of work was slowed down due to the early arrival of monsoon.

The final completion and inauguration of the Doyang Bridge at the Governor’s camp would be further discussed by the department, contractors and the committee at an appropriate time.

The committee stated that immediate construction of a culvert between Niuland and Hovekhu village and the repairing of the hanging bridge over Dikhu River in Naginimora division, which were beyond the fund provision of the foothill road, were also ventilated to the department for redressal.

It stated that the deplorable road condition on the aligned foothill road between Athibung and Khelma was also apprised to the concerned department for redressal at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the department, contractors and the committee have decided to undertake re-survey visits especially at Baghty division and in some sectors at the earliest.

The committee has further appreciated the efforts of the engineer-in-chief and chief engineer of PWD(R&B) and the respective contractors for their commitment in making the foothills road pliable at the earliest.
