News in brief: Portal opened for self-nomination of National Teachers Award

TE dept. to organise career counseling for professional courses

DIMAPUR — The Directorate of Technical Education (TE) will be organising career counseling for students who have appeared NEET/NSEE/JEE (Main)-2023 and class 12 passed students (Science stream) who wish to pursue studies in engineering, paramedical, BBA, MBA and degree in professional courses in private institutions.

In Kohima, the career counseling will be held on July 6 at Capital Convention Centre, Near New Civil Secretariat, from 9:30 am to 5 pm, while in Dimapur, the event will be held on July 7 at ‘The Four Seasons,’ Kohima Road near new Commissioner of Police office, from 9:30 am to 5 pm, a DIPR report stated.

Empanelled institutions and private engineering colleges offering professional and allied courses will be deliberating minutely on career prospects at the counseling event. (Empanelled list of institutions can be accessed from the website dtenagaland.org.in)

The department also encouraged all colleges and schools offering Science stream to actively participate in the career counseling event.

Portal opened for self-nomination of National Teachers Award

DIMAPUR — In pursuance of Ministry of Education, Department of School Education & Literacy, the web portal for online self-nomination by teachers has been opened from June 23 and the last date of submission is July 15. The condition of eligibility of teachers for consideration of the National Teachers Award is revised to 10 years of regular service, a DIPR report stated.

Teachers who have contributed to the improvement of the quality of education through their commitment and industry and also enriched the lives of their students can self-nominate themselves before the prescribed last date of submission. Further details may be obtained from the web portal http://nationalawardstoteachers.education.gov.in.

All DEOs, Sr. SDEOs and SDEOs have been requested to ensure wide publicity in their respective jurisdictions.

NWHD condemns impersonation of minister Kruse

DIMAPUR — The Naga Women Hoho Dimapur (NWHD) has condemned the alleged “impersonation” of the Minister of Horticulture and Women Resources Department, Salhoutounuo Kruse, being circulated in various social media platforms.

The women hoho in a press release stated that the deliberate attempt to malign the minister by some “unscrupulous mindsets” not only demonstrates a complete lack of moral rectitude but also exhibits a blatant disregard for the principles of honesty and integrity that should be upheld by all right thinking individuals.

“Such false impersonation and malicious propaganda sets a dangerous precedent allowing opportunistic individuals to exploit and manipulate public perception to further their own personal agendas at the expense of the public,” NWHD said.

While asserting that the minister is a beacon of light to the Naga women community as a whole, the hoho urged the authorities concerned to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible “so that they face the full weight of legal consequences for their malevolent intentions” directed not only to the minister in particular, but also the Naga women community in general.

NU declares results of UG courses

DIMAPUR — The Nagaland University (NU) has declared the 4th, 5th, (Supplementary) and 6th semester provisional results of BA, B.Com, B.Sc, BCA and BBA of three- year under-graduate course and B.Voc examination held during May 2023.

“While all possible care has been taken to ensure accuracy in the result published, error if any shall be rectified as per the rules of the University as and when detected,” the university in an update stated.

College authority and the students have been requested to note the following:  Respective college principal or authorised personnel are informed to collect the marksheets during office hours on July 10 and the 11th at Lumami Campus. Application for correction in the marksheets, if any, should be submitted to the university within one month from the date of declaration of result along with justification and accompanied by original marksheets.

Application for re-evaluation through the respective college principal shall be submitted at Lumami during office hours on or before July 21. Individual applications from the student(s) shall not be entertained and applications received after the due date shall be summarily rejected. Results of students in “abeyance list requires verification of documents from the respective college,” it stated. Result details can be seen at the Nagaland University website www.nagalanduniversity.ac.in.

KMC notifies on Sunday permit

DIMAPUR — The Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has informed all business establishments and traders within its jurisdiction that only shops with ‘Sunday permit’ issued by KMC will be allowed to open on all Sundays with effect from July 10.

The Sunday permit will be issued as per the previous notification where 10 business establishments and shops only will be permitted in each ward after obtaining ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the ward chairman concerned, stated a notification issued by Administrator, KMC, T Lanusenla Longkumer.

The administrator also notified that pharmacies, hotels, bakeries and barber shops are exempted from the purview of Sunday permit.

Any other business establishment, shop or vendor doing business on Sunday without permit will be penalised as deemed fit, it added.

Monglew Bridge closed for repair

DIMAPUR — Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jalukie, TL Kiusumong Tikhir, has notified the general public that in view of the partial repair and restoration of Monglew Bridge between Samziuram and Saijang by PWD (R&B) Peren division, the bridge will be closed with immediate effect till further notice. The ADC also informed the general public and commuters that total restriction of vehicular movement has been necessitated to facilitate the repair works. Commuters have been advised to take the diversion route a few meters away from the bridge

Joint Forum Thonoknyu town resolves

DIMAPUR — The Joint Forum of Thonoknyu town in collaboration with the DB’s, Thonoknyu town, held an emergency meeting at DB’s Court on May 15 wherein the house resolved to carry out checking in all government departments in the town, time to time, and to report the absentees to the authorities of the departments concerned, for further necessary action. The forum also resolved that no departmental staff of Thonoknyu town shall be allowed to “proceed for attachment in any manner.”

FGN informs on cancellation of ‘ahza’

DIMAPUR — The deputy secretary, Rali Wali Ministry, FGN has informed that the cancellation of the ‘entrusted Ahza’ order dated Oct. 12, 2022, upon Akavi Chishi, caretaker midan peyu of Sumi region to assist the chaplee ministry of FGN in and around Dimapur and Niuland territories, would come into force with immediate effect. It added that the action has been taken as Chishi was found working for his own self interest and was unfaithful in his assignment. “Henceforth, any individual dealing with him in the matters of finance in the name of the government will be at his or her own risk,” it stated.

Restricted drugs seized in Jalukie

DIMAPUR — In a joint drive carried out in Jalukie town by the district administration, police, and drug control office, Peren, on June 30, a total of 216 bottles of restricted drugs containing codeine phosphate were seized from three pharmacies, which were later closed down. The joint checking is an initiative toward combating the rising cases of drug abuse in the district, an official bulletin stated.

Napkin vending machine inaugurated at HPCL outlet

DIMAPUR — Chief General Manager HPCL (Eastern Zone) Mohit Dhawan on Tuesday inaugurated a sanitary napkin vending machine, island for women and free oil change for two-wheelers, at HPCL outlet Lifeline Enterprise, 3rd Mile, Chümoukedima. The inauguration was done under the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities and in line with the Swachhta Pakkaroda, an update stated.
