Dimapur, Sep.1 (EMN): Almost six months after the main shopping markets in Dimapur such as New Market, Hazi Park and Hongkong Market were shut, the deputy commissioner (DC) of Dimapur, Rajesh Soundararajan, has informed that these commercial areas will be ready to open this week.
Speaking to Eastern Mirror, Soundararajan informed that a district task force (DTF) meeting will be held on Wednesday to ‘figure out some modalities’ that can be put in place.
“We have to put some modalities in place so that it does not exceed 50% of shops to open every day as per new guidelines,” Soundararajan said and assured that the markets will open by this week.
The GB of New Market (Ward-19), Khekishe Aye, also informed this newspaper that after the DTF meeting, shops will be numbered so that odd-even system can be implemented. He expressed hope that by Thursday, the shops will open for business. “We assure to definitely follow all SOPs and guidelines after we are opened,” said Aye.
Also, in an order issued on Tuesday, the DC has allowed movement of people settled in the border areas for essential needs, availing medical facilities, and students to pursue their education or appearing exams at the following locations: Borlengri-Imlighas junction, LRC bridge connecting Balijan, Notun Bosti bridge connecting tea garden and Aoyimsen.
Further, the DC informed that anyone passing through the interstate gates will be registered at the gates and undergo thermal screening. Use of masks and hand sanitisers will be mandatory.
‘Persons entering and leaving the said locations will compulsory follow all Covid-19 precautions such as social distancing at all times,’ he added.
