Kohima, Dec. 18 (EMN): National Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) unit of the 18th Chozuba AC celebrated pre-Christmas at Phusachodu village in Phek district on December 17.
An update from the party stated that the celebration was held to mark the birth of Jesus Christ and also to strengthen the party in the constituency at the grassroots level. It stated that more than 400 members representing various village and town units attended the celebration, which was hosted by intending candidate, Kudecho Khamo and family.
The speaker of the celebration, Rev. Dr. Kedungulo Mero, in his sermon, emphasised on spreading love and peace to mankind during the season as Christmas is the most important festival for Christians.
He reminded that Christmas is not only a time for celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ but also to seek forgiveness, reconcile and restore with the birth of Jesus.
“Only the power of the blood of Jesus will cleanse from all our sins,” Rev. Mero said and urged the people in attendance to seek God’s forgiveness so as to restore the relationship and receive God’s blessings while people embark on a new year with new hope.
Mero exuded hope that the constituency would receive blessings and exhorted the leaders and members to ask God for forgiveness, share the message of love and the gospel of peace during the Christmas season.
Intending NDPP candidate, Kudecho Khamo, stated that Christmas is a time of joy and thanksgiving and reminded the gathering that Jesus Christ was born to save the human race from their sins and asked the gathering to uphold Christmas spirit in the real sense of Christmas.
“Let us all give something back and thank God for his blessing during this Christmas season,” he said.
He expressed hope that Christmas would be a blessing for everyone and acknowledged the blessings through the years and asked the party workers to spread, share love and kindness to one another.
Speaking about the upcoming election, Khamo stated that it is in God’s hand whether he would get the ticket or not. He, however, urged the party workers to not let the ticket decide their leader but remain steadfast, work together so as to bring new change and all-round development in the constituency.
The programme was led by Khwuvolu Nienu, NDPP president of women organisation of 18th Chozuba AC, while an invocation was offered by Mulukhoyi Murao, assistant pastor of Phusadochu Baptist Church, and a song was presented by Vetholu Rhakho.
