Dimapur, Sep 2 (EMN): Alleging participation of non-contractors in government works, Dimapur unit of the Nagaland Contractors and Suppliers’ Union (NCSU), while upholding the government’s standing order, resolved that only valid NCSU card holders would be allowed to participate in the open tender system for any contract or supplier works.
The resolution to this effect was taken at the first meeting of the Dimapur unit officials for the tenure 2017-22 at its office on September 2.
It was decided that its action committee would coordinate and supervise the concerned departments which deal with any contract or supply works. It has also empowered the committee to undertake check and evaluate various departments in Dimapur district to ensure implementation of government standing order; monitor maintaining quality workmanship by a contactor; and ensuring the departments appropriately execute the works.
With 662 NCSU members in Dimapur district, the union president Hotoshe Sumi affirmed that any contractors failing to provide quality workmanship would face blacklist.
NCSU general secretary A Tureng said ‘any inconsistency on the part of the department or contractor, the responsibility shall be fixed to the concerned erring persons and action initiated in consultation with executives.’ The secretary also cautioned the contractors on misuse of writing pad and letter head by other persons.
He further directed all fair price shop dealers in Dimapur district to compulsorily register with NCSU at the earliest.
The unit advisor K Medom, while reminding the members on past instances in which two former members were blacklisted for their inconsistency, persuaded the members to display quality workmanship.
“There should not be any room for ‘ism’ in a union and our first priority should be NCSU to provide quality workmanship,” urged Medom.
The unit office bearers for 2017-22 are Hotoshe Sumi as president, Alezo Angami and I Wapang as vice presidents, Abel Tureng as general secretary, Chobathung Lotha and Neizelie Keditsu as joint secretaries, Koching Zeliang as treasurer, and Likalo Letro as press secretary. The advisors are Kape, K Medom and Vikato.
