Dimapur, May 19 (EMN): Nagaland Civil Service (NCS) probationers of 2020 batch called on the Chief Election Officer (CEO) of Nagaland, V Shashank Shekhar; Additional CEO, Ruokuovituo Khezhie; joint CEO, Awa Lorin; and other officials in its office on May 19. The probationers were accompanied by Lemlila, assistant commissioner, from the Commissioner’s office.
An update from the Election department stated that the NCS probationers namely Viketoulie Metha, Merishan Ezung, Kilangtemsu, Dr. Samuel Akho Konyak P, Joshua Tikhir, Pauding Disuang were briefed about various programmes/ activities of the CEO’s office such as systematic voters’ education and electoral participation (SVEEP), electoral registration officer’s network (ERONET), handling of electronic voting machines (EVM)/ voters verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) and various IT initiatives of the Election Commission of India. They were also briefed about the various administrative and legal aspects related to the conduct of elections.
It added that the CEO, V Shashank Shekhar, has shared on the important role of administrative officers in the conduct of elections. He also shared that elections are at the heart of a democratic system of government adopted by the country through the constitution.
