Native Shuttlers ‘B’ lifts Mokokchung inter-club badminton championship

Mokokchung, Sep. 30 (EMN): Native Shuttlers ‘B’ Mopungchuket emerged as the winner of Mokokchung Inter club Badminton Championship 2017 organised by Mokokchung District Badminton Association after defeating Team Bendangsunep in an evenly contested final match at the Indoor stadium, Mokokchung, on Saturday.
Out of seven categories that included U-13 Singles Boys; U-15 Singles girls; U-17 Singles Boys; U-19 Mixed doubles; Men’s doubles, 35+ Doubles and 45+ Doubles, the Native Shuttlers ‘B’ Mopungchuket notched up the coveted title in a decisive final matches against Team Bendangsunep by 4-3. At the starting Team Bendangsunep smoothly booked two categories U-13 Boys Singles and Men’s Doubles. In U-13: Sentisang of Team Bendangsunep beat Nungsangmanen of Native by 21-15; 19-21;21-14 while in the Men Doubles Taiakum and Imnayanger of Bendangsunep defeated Akum & Temsu of Native by 21-9; 21-13.
However, Native came back to equalise their losses in U-15 Singles girls and 35+ men. Khochobeni of native beat Arenchila of Team Bendangsunep by 21-10; 21-7 in the U-15 and Raju and Moa outclassed Along Jamir and Er Toshikaba by 21-13; 21-14; 22-20 in the men doubles category.
Again in the match team Bendangsunep outsmart Native in U-17 Boys Singles get a lead, Lothu Akiu easily defeated Native’s Pachung by 21-9; 21-2. Nevertheless Native again equalised the scored in 45+ Men doubles, Temjen & Tali defeated Team Bendangsunep’s Moa Imsong and his partner Bendangwati in a straight set 21-14; 21-12.
With both the team securing three wins out of six categories the deciding match was settled by Mixed Doubles where Native outgunned Team Bendangsunep to clinch the championship title. Native’s Erenbeni & Vikehietuo Kensa partnership secured straight sets of 21-14; 19-21 against Team Bendangsunep’s mixed double partner Lungliayichang & Imnuksungla to declare their triumph.
This year champion walked away with a cash amount of Rs. 50000/- plus running trophy and certificates while the runner-up received a cash amount of Rs. 30000/- plus trophy and certificates. The closing function was graced by ADC Mokokchung W Manpai Phom.
