Nagaland weather forecast: Moderate rain with thunderstorm expected next few days

Dimapur, Aug. 8 (EMN): Nagaland is likely to experience moderate rain with thunderstorm during late evening and night from August 8 to the 16th.

According to a weather forecast issued by the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), the state will also experience frequent spells of intermittent rain lasting till early morning during this period.

“The weather activity in the first half will be more than the latter one. Thundershowers and lighting accompanied with heavy rains is expected in the districts of Peren, Kohima, Phek, Wokha, Zunheboto, Kiphire, Mokokchung and Tuensang from August 8 to the 11th.

“The second half, including Independence Day, will have better weather conditions. One or two spells of rain or thunderstorms of short duration likely to occur during night. During this period, the days generally will be cloudy. Maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 25 degrees and 18 degrees at most locations except Dimapur where maximum temperature could rise up to 35 degrees. Any adverse weather causing disruption to the routine activities not expected. Spike in weather activity with frequent rainy spells expected from August 17,” it predicted.

The NSDMA also informed that this season, Nagaland has received about 25% deficient monsoon rains. 

It has urged the public to exercise caution during this period; and all the DDMAs and other line departments to attend to any emergencies caused by natural calamities and to be on alert.
