Nagaland: Tetso College organises book launch programme

Dr. Hewasa L Khing releasing the book titled ‘Higher Education in North-East India: Trends, Opportunities and Challenges’ on Tuesday.

Dimapur, May 2 (EMN): The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Tetso College organised an online programme for the launch of a book titled ‘Higher Education in North-East India: Trends, Opportunities and Challenges’ on April 26.

An update from the college stated that the book was a compilation of research works conducted by 12 authors from various disciplines. It addressed the various challenges and issues existing in the educational system, ranging from the need for skill-based and employment centric knowledge building, infrastructural and network challenges, finance and management, sustenance of traditional and archaic knowledge systems and accessibility to equitable and relevant programme courses.

Chairperson of the programme and assistant professor of Psychology, Dr. Nouzhienino Peseyie, mentioned that the book was an outcome of the online national conference sponsored by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and organised by the IQAC of the college in January 2021.

The college principal, Dr. Hewasa L Khing, spoke about the relevance of the book and conveyed her appreciation for the hard work put in by the editors and contributors. She hoped that the book would travel far and wide and shared the knowledge contained in the book.

The chief editor of the book, Dr. S Elika Assumi, spoke about her experience in organising the national seminar and the challenges she and her co-authors namely Dr. V Vijaya Chamundeswari and Anjan K Behera faced during the process of editing the book and lessons learned in the process.

Dr. S Maxwell Lyngdoh, one of the contributors of the book, also spoke briefly about the importance of being connected to the roots, the need for institutions to strengthen and develop the online platform and the need for education to be student centric. 

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Chikhosale Thingo, IQAC Coordinator.
