Nagaland records 17 fresh Covid cases; tally rises to 11954

Dimapur, Jan. 6 (EMN): After registering single digit new Covid-19 cases for eight consecutive days, Nagaland recorded 17 fresh cases on Wednesday, taking the state’s tally to 11,954.

The minister of Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, updated that the state detected 17 fresh cases – 15 in Dimapur and one each in Kohima and Longleng.

He added that 22 patients — 19 in Dimapur and three in Kohima – have recovered, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 11,603 (97.06% recovery rate).

According to information provided by the Health department, Nagaland currently has 137 active Covid cases, out of which 115 are asymptomatic, 14 mild, four moderate on oxygen, one severe on oxygen, and three (critical-ICU) on ventilator. The state has also recorded 80 deaths out which 10 have been ruled ‘not Covid-related’.

In terms of state-wise distribution of active Covid cases, Dimapur leads with 68, followed by Kohima-48, Mokokchung-13, Peren-5, and one each in Kiphire, Longleng and Mon, while Phek, Tuensang, Wokha and Zunheboto have zero cases.

The department also updated that out of the 11,954 confirmed Covid cases so far, 4657 are from armed forces, accounting for 38.96% of the total cases; returnees and travellers-1842 (15.41%), traced contacts-4888 (40.89%) and frontline workers-567 (4.74%).
