‘Nagaland Police have played pivotal role in Naga history’

Dimapur, Oct. 1: Director General of Police (DGP), Nagaland, T John Longkumer on Tuesday assured that more specialist training programmes will be introduced in the state and said that the Police Headquarters (PHQ) will give full support in making Nagaland Armed Police Training Centre (NAPTC) a centre of excellence.

The DGP made this statement during the NAPTC golden jubilee celebration on October 1 at NAP Training Centre Complex, Chumoukedima.

While addressing the gathering, Longkumer said that NAPTC is now part of the folklore and history of Nagaland. When Nagaland was born in 1963, it was the Naga and Nagaland police who helped in establishing it, he said.

Longkumer, added that, NAPTC is the nursery for the state’s armed police branch from 1st NAP to 15th IRP force and from this nursery was born the officers and personnel who have brought glory and name to Nagaland Police.

‘Inception of NAP till today, Nagaland Police have played a pivotal role in Naga history as peacekeeper’ he said. He said the police will safeguard and protect the state in particular and India in general from all enemies both domestic and foreign; and prevent with all their might, those that break peace, law and those who wish harm on the citizens of the state. He added that the ‘police will be unwavering in their resolve to keep peace and tranquillity in Nagaland.’

“Blessed are the peacemakers and this is our motto and credo to live by,” said Longkumer.

He told the gathering that there is no room for complicated intellectualisms in their minds and ensured a peaceful Nagaland for the children. He also urged the police personnel to build and uphold the dignity of service of all ranks.

The Golden Jubilee celebration begun with the DGP unveiling the golden jubilee mural and planting tree. Commandant NAPTC, Ben Longkumer, delivered the welcome address. He said that it was a momentous occasion as it marked the 50 years of NAPTC and acknowledged all the personnel of all ranks. He added that they initiated blood donation, plastic collection drive, essay and drawing competition on ‘plastic free’ theme and also welfare outreach activities to commemorate the golden jubilee.
