Nagaland Forest department releases a book ‘Feathers and Leaves’
Dimapur, Dec. 6 (EMN): The principal chief conservator of forest (PCCF), Dharmendra Prakash, released a book titled “Feathers and leaves: Flora and fauna documented in Forest Colony, Kohima,” at the Forest office complex in Kohima on December 6.
Briefing about the book, Rajkumar M, DFO of Kohima, who conceptualised the book, stated that people generally see Forest Colony in Kohima as a residential area with offices around, while huge part of the area is covered by forest which serves as a haven for the rich flora and fauna. He said that the idea behind the book was to enable the people contribute towards the conservation of bio-diversity after reading the book, stated an update from the Forest department.
He concluded by saying that the book would act as a guide for those who want to do bird watching in Kohima. He also thanked Vedpal Singh, chief wildlife warden of Nagaland, for his support and contribution through photos of the birds.
Speaking on the occasion, Dharmendra Prakash, congratulated the division for the initiative and encouraged them to continue the good work. The PCCF was pleased to know that a variety of species of birds and trees are found in Forest Colony, Kohima. He encouraged the team to come up with more of such documentations in future.
Report stated that senior forest officials and team from Kohima Forest division were present during the book release event.
