Paralytic woman raped in Kohima

KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 18

A 21-year-old non-local paralytic woman was brutally raped by a 40-year-old man in High School colony on November 17 morning. Police sources today said the accused has been identified as Chanboulong Rongmei (40), son of Aluwang Rongmei of Mhainamtsi under Jalukie PS in Peren district and present resident of Naga Hospital colony. He was reportedly caught by the colony people and handed over to police last evening after thrashing him. Sources said the victim’s one-side was under paralytic condition. A case in this connection has been registered under North PS, Kohima.
Meanwhile, a release issued by the president of Peraciezie Youth Organization, Kevineisa Metha said they have filed an FIR against the rapist.
Strongly condemning the ‘shocking crime’, PYO said the accused should be seriously dealt with and rigorously penalized, setting an example for everyone so that this type of crime never takes place in the our society.

Vehicle lifter caught red-handed 

Dimapur: A vehicle lifter identified as Kishore Munda (29), son of late Bijoy Munda, of Chungajan under Golaghat district of Assam was caught red handed by the owner Maruti car (AS-01AA- 6504) while he was getting away after stealing the vehicle on November 17. On receiving the information, the Crime Police rushed to the spot and arrested the accused from Chotu Lengri, Dimapur. Two of his accomplices are evading arrest and police are making efforts to arrest them. A case has been registered against the three accused and further investigation is on, a Dimapur police release said.

Extortionist arrested in Dmp

A suspected ‘leacy’ in NNC(NA) identified as one Yekheto Sema, son of Vihoto Sema, was arrested by Diphupar police from Chekiye bazaar for extorting money from business establishments in the area in the name of the organization on Monday, a Dimapur police release said. The accused hails from Khatara village under Aghunato PS in Zunheboto district and is presently residing at Thilixu village, Dimapur. One booklet of tax coupons containing 50 coupons in the name of NNC(NA) and extorted cash amounting to Rs 1010 was recovered from his possession. In this connection, a case was registered with Diphupar PS and the accused forwarded to court for remand.

NSCN (K) cadre held in Wokha

ACTING on a tip off, 31 Assam Rifles apprehended an NSCN (K) cadre with an IED weighing 500 gms from Changka village under Wokha district.
A defence release today said the NSCN (K) cadre was apprehended with the IED after an Area Domination Patrol of 31 Assam Rifles, which was present in the nearby area, was alerted about the presence of the cadre in the area. The apprehended cadre has been identified as Felix Lotha, son of Lochamo Lotha, of Yangkham village under Wokha district. During questioning, the cadre said he is a `Khapur` in NSCN (K). The cadre along with the IED was handed over to Longtho Police Station.
