Nagaland Covid-19 update: Active cases rise to 9 as 5 more test positive

Dimapur, May 27 (EMN): Five more returnees from Chennai have been tested positive for Covid-19 at bio-safety level 3 (BSL-3) virology laboratory in Kohima, taking the total cases in Nagaland to nine so far.

A total of 1506 samples have been tested from the state so far; received results of 1187 samples, out of which nine are positive and results of 319 samples are awaited, an official update informed on Wednesday. It added that 48 samples have been tested through Truenat testing machine, out of which 47 have come negative, while the result of one sample is awaited.

“All the positive persons are undergoing treatment at the designated Covid-19 Hospitals and their condition is stable. Active surveillance and contact tracing is being carried out so as to prevent further spreading of the infection,” informed an update from minister for Planning and Co-ordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu.

This was informed by the minister for Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, via social media on Wednesday morning.

The patients are undergoing treatment at Covid-19 hospital in Dimapur and District Hospital, Tuensang.

The announcement came after the state recorded its fourth case on Tuesday morning. The first three cases were reported on May 25.

The first four cases– two from Dimapur and two for Kohima– are currently undergoing treatment at their respective Covid-19 hospitals– District Hospital Dimapur and Ayushman, Chedema.
