Nagaland: CFD imparts training to child rights leaders
Dimapur, Aug. 15 (EMN): Training for child rights club leaders was conducted by Child Friendly Dimapur (CFD), AIDA, on August 13 at AIDA conference hall.
According to an update, the main objective of organising the programme was to enhance the leadership skills of the child rights club leaders through capacity building and educating them on the four cardinal rights of the children as enshrined in the United Nation Convention for the Rights of a Child (UNCRC).
During the session, the club leaders were trained on leadership, characteristics of a good leader, steps to become a good leader and roles and responsibility of the child rights club leaders. Throughout the training session, the children were motivated and trained to become an influential leader by being a doer, it stated.
The children were also taught about violence against children including exploitation of children in the form of child labor, begging, commercial sexual exploitation of children, child trafficking, use of children in criminal acts (thefts, smuggling, etc). They were also taught on neglect to children by being deprived of food, health care, safe health habits, education, physical and emotional care, play and creative activities, sexual violence and physical and emotional violence, it stated.
Altogether, 28 child rights club leaders from Northern Angami Colony, Senjum Village, Rilan, Kacharigaon Village, Public Ground Colony, Signal Angami and Jolil Colony attended the programme. Garrol Lotha, Shemang S Phom, Felisita Marak, Sr. Jisha facilitated the programme, it added.
