Nagaland bag 5 medals at all India fire service sports meet
Dimapur, Sep. 25 (EMN): The Nagaland Fire & Emergency Services (NF&ES) won a gold, a silver and three bronze medals at the first All India Fire Service Sports Meet and Fire Service Meet-2022 held at Thyagaraj Stadium, New Delhi from September 22 to the 24th.
NF&ES in an update informed that the its personnel SI Ruovivor Yiese and ASI Senokhape Koza won gold in the table tennis men’s doubles; SI Thejavizo Benedict Miasalhou bagged silver in the men’s 1500 metre race.
In the extension ladder drill, the NF&ES team comprising FM Mhashevoto Thapru, FM Kenilo Khing, FM Vibozoto Rolnu and FM Teisovilie Semo won bronze.
SI Ruovivor Yiese also secured a bronze in the table tennis men’s singles while SI Thejavizo Benedict Miasalhou added another bronze in the 5000 metres men’s race, it stated.
The event conducted by All India Fire Service Sports Control Board (AIFSSCB) was centered on the ‘Khelo India Khelo’ and ‘Fit India Movement’ with Olympic wrestler and Arjuna awardee, Rajeev Tomar, as the chief guest, Kabaddi Player and Arjuna awardee, Rakesh Kumar and singer and Olympic commentator, Padamjeet Sehrawat, as the guests of honour.
The main events included water tender (pump) drill, extension ladder drill and toughest firefighters alive (TAF) where fire personnel clad in full fire fighting gears showcased their fire fighting skills and rescue operations and competed with each other within a stipulated time.
The fire personnel who have excelled in various disciplines at the national event will represent the country at the International level at the world firefighter’s games, it stated.
