Nagaland: 123 arms, 2228 ammunition seized in 2021

Dimapur, Sep. 4 (EMN): A total of 123 arms and 2228 ammunition were seized under Arms Act during 2021 in Nagaland, according to the data released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
Out of the total seized items, 91 unlicensed arms and 1790 ammunition were seized from Northeast insurgents, extremists and terrorists.
Meanwhile, 32 arms and 438 ammunition were seized from others, out of which 31 arms were unlicensed.
Assam topped the list with seizures with a total of 313 arms and 2531 ammunition among the north-eastern states, which included 128 and 1333 unlicensed arms and ammunition.
In Manipur, a total of 114 arms and 1807 ammunition were seized, which comprised 96 and 1441 unlicensed arms and ammunition respectively.
28 arms and 206 ammunitions were seized from Mizoram, out of which 18 arms and 206 ammunition were unlicensed, while in Tripura, 25 arms and 12 ammunitions were seized, as per the NCRB report.
A total of 16 arms and 583 ammunition were seized in Meghalaya.
In Arunachal Pradesh, eight arms and 19 ammunition were seized out of which four arms and 16 ammunition were unlicensed.
Meanwhile, Sikkim kept a clean sheet with zero seizure of arms and ammunition.
As compared to 68,463 cases under Arms Act during 2020, 74,482 cases were registered during 2021 in which 84,623 arms were seized, comprising 4,044 as licensed/factory made and 80,579 as unlicensed/ improvised/crude/country made. A total of 86,572 ammunition were also seized during 2021.
In the country, Uttar Pradesh topped the list with the highest number of seized arms with 40212, followed by Madhya Pradesh with 13097, and Rajasthan with 6790, according to the report.
In terms of seized ammunition, Jammu and Kashmir topped the list with a total of 15487 ammunition, followed by Bihar with 10807 and Delhi with 9612.
