MTLT officials along with district administration, police and DBs after unlocking the offices of the power department on Monday, 29 August 2016.

Dimapur, August 29 : Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) has unlocked the offices of the power department in Mokokchung with immediate effect following a written reply from secretary of state power department, which was intimated through Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung at a joint meeting held today.
MTLT president Imkummeren Jamir and convenor Grievances Cell, Aolong Imchen issued details as responded by the secretary.
“The 2.5MVA was upgraded to 5 MVA in October 2015. This is in line with the MTLT’s demand in 2015.”
“Additional 33KV transmission line from 132KV Sub Station at Aolijen to Mokokchung is provisioned in the NERPSIP scheme funded by GOI and World Bank.”
“Under NE Region Power System Improvement Project (NERPSIP) funded by GOI/WB, two 10MVA 33/11KV power transformers will be installed in Mokokchung. PowerGrid of India has been assigned to execute the project by Ministry of Power, GOI and not the State Power Department. Tendering process is going on and fully managed by PowerGrid of India. The State power department will write to PowerGrid to expedite the execution of the project.”
“With regard to the District Coordination Committee, Department of Power will take necessary follow-up action as required in compliance with the IE Act 2003.”
“The proposal for exclusive/dedicated transmission line for Mokokchung town is ideal but limited resource is an issue.”
“Detailed report will be shared as the same are being sought from CEs/Division Office with regard to sanction/work order/payment of 50 lacs to Mecavo Power Works as alleged. No UC is on record with the department.” Besides, the district administration and the Mokokchung power division appealed to the MTLT to unlock the offices. The MTLT, however, cautioned the concerned department that the secretary’s (Power) reply was not satisfactory.
“The offices have been unlocked with the assurance of cooperation from the concerned department as well as its acceptance of bearing the risk of expediting the matter. This is just a temporal goodwill gesture of the MTLT and hence, any failure to execute the assurance will necessitate further drastic steps in the interest of the public.”
The MTLT has declared to deputy commissioner and power department, Mokokchung that it will not withdraw its endorsement of the All Ward Union Mokokchung to withhold the electricity bill to the government from July 2016. It also reiterated to wholeheartedly support the AWUM as to whatever action the union might take with regard to the power crisis in Mokokchung.
