Imphal, March 24 (EMN): Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee(MPCC-I) leaders on Friday demanded a clarification from both from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led coalition government in the state as well as BJP led NDA government at centre over the NSCN-M leader Thuingaleng Muivah’s reported remark that ‘Framework agreement’ recognizes “Naga integration.”
Expressing serious concern over Muivah’s remark during 38th Republic Day function held on Tuesday in Nagaland, MPCC (I) spokes person Y Surchandra said, “Both BJP governments at state and centre make clarification within 24 hours as congress party will not tolerate any move against the territorial integrity of Manipur.”Congress party will not compromise the territorial integrity of the state at any cost. So the BJP governments and BJP National President Amit Shah should make clarification for peaceful coexistence in Manipur, Surchandra, a sitting congress MLA from Kakching said. Despite having the repeated statement (by BJP leaders) that the ‘Framework agreement’ will not affect the territorial integrity of the state, Muivah’s statement is a matter of concern as he is the key person in signing the ‘Framework agreement’.
So BJP led coalition government in the state and BJP government at centre should make a clear cut stand on it, he added. General Secretary Kh Debabarta of MPCC (I) also shared a similar sentiment.
The ‘Framework agreement’ which was signed between the centre and NSCN-IM in August 2015, was the key issue in the just concluded Manipur assembly elections.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as Home Minister Rajnath Singh in their separate elections campaign in Manipur last month assured that ‘Framework agreement’ does not contain anything that can harm Manipur’s territorial Integrity.
