Dimapur, Jan. 28
MON: Mon district observed 7th National Voter’s Day, under the theme “Empowering young and future voters,”at DC’s office Complex on January 25.
DC & DEO, Mon W. Honje Konyak, while congratulating the newly enrolled voters, they have the responsibility of electing their future leaders and to act as an agent of change for free, fair and peaceful elections. He also urged the young voters to check the electoral roll of their ward and village to ensure double entry of their name and also to make a commitment to act as the agent change.
While emphasizing on systematic voters education and voter’s participation, he urged the Churches and the civil societies to play an active role to educate and create awareness on the importance of the day in their respective community. Asserting that clean e-roll is required for clean elections he questioned the leaders present whether there is any impact after observing the National Voters Day for the last seven years.
Briefing on the significance of the day, he said National Voters Day is observed for quality participation of the voters in the elections and to encourage the young voters to exercise their voting rights. It is also aimed to retrospect and spread the message of their voting rights and responsibility to the masses, he added.
DC also gave away prizes to the winners of the District Level Essay Competition, Campus Ambassador District Level, District Level Best BLO, and Best BLO for 43 & 46 A/C. He also felicitated the newly enrolled electors. Relise Sangtam, EAC, Mon Sadar and Lemei Konyak, Miss Mon 2016 also spoke on the occasion while AEO, Mon Aketo Shohe spoke on the significance of the day.
MANGKOLEMBA: The 7th National Voters Day for 29 Jangpetkong & 30 Alongtaki Assembly Constituencies was organised by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Mangkolemba on January 25, under the theme, “Empowering youth and future electors.”
ADC in his speech said, “We are the leaders who make people to understand and influence the youth to actively involve electing right person. We can make people change their attitude. The duty of leaders is to make our youth to understand the value of their rights and votes.”
ZUNHEBOTO: The 7th National Voters Day was celebrated on January 25, at DC Conference Hall, Zunheboto. SDO (C), Zunheboto, Hollohon Yepthomi spoke on the need of initiating younger generation to develop sense of responsibility to vote without being influenced by any unfair inducement. Hollohon also led in administering the Voter’s pledge.
Kaheli Chophy, Runners Up, Miss Nagaland 2014, who is the district icon, reminded the gathering to vote in true spirit for principled persons and create awareness and be an agent of change. She also gave away prizes to best Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and winners of essay competition. Assistant Election Officer (AEO), Zunheboto chaired the program.
KIPHIRE: The 7th National Voters Day was celebrated on January 25, at DC conference hall Kiphire under the theme “Proud to be a voters; ready to vote,” with Sedevikho Khro, DC & DEO Kiphire, as chief guest. DC said National Voters Day is mainly for the youngsters who have attained the age of 18 years. He also asserted that each and every one is responsible for free and fair election and unless there are bogus voters there will be no clean election. He also said that voters should elect good leaders for the betterment of the future generation by avoiding malpractices and corruption.
Keynote address was delivered by Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, ADC & ERO Kiphire and short speech was delivered by Litila L., Miss USSC 2011. The prizes for the winners of essay writing competition, both college and high school level and best BLOs of 29th A/C Seyochung and Sitimi, 60 A/C Pungro-Kiphire, and new EPICS were also given by the DC.
PFUTSERO: Pfutsero observed National Voter’s Day at ADC’s office chamber on January 25. National Voters Day pledge was read out by AERO and ADC, Sangmai C Imlong in the presence of BLOs, voters and office Staff. Commendation certificate in recognition of distinguished service rendered as BLOs towards the successful conduct of special summary revision of e-roll was awarded to Daniel Kevie of Polling Station No-10 F wing Pfutsero under 16th Pfutsero Assembly Constituency Phek District.
CHANGTONGYA: Changtongya observed National Voters’ Day on January 25, at DBs Court Changtongya under the theme “Empowering young and future voters”. The programme was chaired by Er. Saponger, Supervisor 22 A/C. Message of the CEC was read out by Chumlamo Humtsoe (NCS) SDO (C) Changtongya. Felicitation of newly enrolled voters and voters pledge were the other highlights of the day.
MEDZIPHEMA: The 7th National Voter’s Day was celebrated at Medziphema on January 25. The programme was chaired by Manpai Phom SDO (C) and short speech on “political rights as a citizen of country to exercise right to vote” was delivered by ADC Sara S. Jamir. EPIC and badge was also distributed to newly enrolled young voters.
