DIMAPUR — The International Human Rights Council (IHRC), Nagaland State Board, condemned the fatal assault in Kohima on May 18, which resulted in the loss of life of Kezhalelie Lawrence Miasalhou.

In a condemnation note, the IHRC Nagaland State Board stated that the discourteous behaviour exhibited by the two accused, Neizosetuo Kire and Khrietsonyü Whuorie, has brought disgrace and shame to the entire wrestling community.

It stated that the incident also stained the image of the state capital and created an environment where people feel unsafe and uneasy to raise their voice against public nuisance.

The council sought a fair trial, suitable punishment for the culprits as per the law and justice for the victim’s family. The council also expressed its deepest condolences to the family.

Western Angami GB Union

The Western Angami GB Union expressed its shock over the incident that cost the life of Kezhalelie Lawrence Miasalhou, political assistant to DC Kohima.

The union condemned the act and appealed to the law enforcement agencies to expedite the investigation and deliver justice to the victim and his family at the earliest.

“We pray that the departed soul rest in eternal peace,” it read.

Angami Youth Organisation

In a press release, the Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family while expressing gratitude to the family members of Miasalhou and the Western Angami Youth Organisation (WAYO) ‘for their magnanimity and understanding shown at this crucial juncture in the pursuit of justice’.

It said that through the initiative of WAYO, the matter has been democratically addressed to the office of the deputy commissioner, Kohima, by posing faith in the investigating agencies and judiciary to deliver justice.

AYO reiterated the memorandum of the WAYO dated May 20 and demanded the utmost seriousness in investigating the incident and befitting punishment for the perpetrators as per the law of the land.
