Mon gets village legal center

ADDITIONAL District and Session Judge of Mon Neiko Kanuo has inaugurated the village legal care and support centre at Longwa in Mon district on June 24.
After the inauguration programme, organized by Mon District Legal Services Authority.
The Legal Awareness program was held at the resident of Chairman Longwa Village Council. At the Awareness program Neiko Kanuo spoke on ‘role of the village council’.
Kanuo said that the village council has the power to formulate development schemes and to help various government agencies in carrying out development works in the village. He said that every village council is empowers to administer justice within the village limits in accordance with the customary law and in any serious case offender may be arrested and should be handed over to the nearest Administration Officer or Police Station without delay. He also said that Village Council should maintain law and order for the welfare of the village.
Nokshei Kano, Civil Judge, also spoke on ‘Introduction and Importance of Legal Services Authority’. He said that legal Services provided free legal aid to those who cannot access justice due to economic and other disabilities. He also said that legal service will always offer justice and requests the villagers to visit the legal services centre incase of any dispute.
