Mkg district Inter school football tournament underway

Mokokchung, Sep. 21 (EMN): The first ever inter secondary and higher secondary school football tournament was kicked off at Imkongmeren sports complex with deputy district education officer, Mokokchung, Sentinenla as the chief guest.
Speaking at the inaugual function, Sentinenla congratulated Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA) for completing 25 years of its journey in nurturing young talents and in making Mokokchung district a football hub in the state. She also thanked Nehru Yuva Kendra for collaborating and organising the tournament along with MDFA.
In her speech the education officer said that games and sports is an integral part of one’s life especially in a student’s life as it plays a vital role to refresh one’s mind and body.
She also added that it was the best way to experience team spirit and to develop leadership qualities.
She also said that a student’s life is not only about grades and good marks but it is also about developing a confident and truthful personality.
She also said that games and sports teach a person the lesson of discipline, teamwork, patience, punctuality and courage.
“It also produces a sense of equality, cooperation and fraternity which helps an individual to face the challenges of life”, she added.
Earlier at the inaugural event, invocation was offered by Temsutoshi, President Youth Department,MTBA and Apong Jamir, President MDFA gave the welcome speech.
Altogether 11 schools from around the district is vying for the coveted trophy and the tournament is being held under the tutelage of MDFA in commemoration of its silver Jubilee celebration.
The tournament is co-sponsored by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Mokokchung and being organised under the patronage of District Education Officer Mokokchung.
