Miss Universe 2000 Lara Dutta to walk the ramp at Manipur Sangai Festival

Imphal, Nov. 23 (EMN): The stage is all set for Churachandpur edition of Manipur Sangai Festival (MSF) 2022 at three different venues in Churachandpur, the southern district of Manipur, wherein Bollywood actress and Miss Universe 2000 Lara Dutta will walk the ramp for the well known fashion designer Robert Naorem.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh accompanied by Industries minister Nemcha Kipgen along with five MLAs from Churachandpur district which border Myanmar and Mizoram in south, will inaugurate the Churachandpur edition of MSF 2022 celebration at Geljang Resort, Khuga in the morning and later attend the celebration at Southern Manipur Cultural Centre (SMCC), Behiang, a village near the Indo-Myanmar international border.

The MSF 2022, the state’s biggest tourism promotion festival with the theme ‘oneness’ is being celebrated across 13 venues of the state after it was formally inaugurated by the Union DoNER minister G Kishan Reddy at Moirang Khunou 55 km south of Imphal near Keibul Lamjao, the only floating National Park in the world which is the natural habitat of Sangai (Brow antlered deer), the state animal.

“The three-day event here will showcase the rich cultural flavour, blend of traditional and western music, food and cuisines, adventure sports, indigenous games, art works etc of the district,” said a district official.

“At Geljang Resort, the first day (Nov. 24) will feature cultural performances by various communities including bamboo dance, Thang-Ta, football freestyle show by Muani Tangpua, performance on Hingminnasi Eikhoi (a unity song) and indigenous games, showcasing of a video on tourism potential of the district, magic show by Ozaka Joute, and musical performance by bands – Sound Factory (Drixian Empire) and other artistes.”

Other activities will include boating, indigenous games such as pole climbing, water zorbing, live weaving, art and photo exhibitions.

The main highlights of the afternoon events at Behiang will include cultural dances by various tribes of Manipur, solo guitar performance by Vawnchawi Vaiphei. While the night programme will witness traditional fashion parade with special appearance by Miss Kut 2022, live music performance by Echoes of Mercy and a galaxy of prominent artistes will belt out their hit numbers. Besides, there will be live screening of the ongoing FIFA World Cup match.

Cultural performances by tribes of Churachandpur, and rock concert (Khuga Waves) by local artists and bands, meet the stars programme featuring Soma Laishram, brand ambassador, MSF 2022, performance by folk singer Rosy Heisnam and K-Pop dance by Duality will be the main attractions at Geljang Resort on Friday.

This will be followed by special events at Lamka Public ground on Saturday wherein music bands such as Sound from the Hills, E-Rose, We Dance Academy, Pengpelep and other artistes will rock the stage. Miss Universe 2000 Lara Dutta will be the main feature during the show.

DC Churachandpur Sharath Chandra Arroju, said that decks have been cleared for the spectacular show adding that free transportation for revellers will be arranged for all venues. Besides, entry will be free at all the venues. He appealed to all sections of the people to join in the celebration of festival of oneness.
