Wangala cum 1st Mini Hornbill Festival: Delhi Fashion club organises fashion show
Dimapur, Nov. 23 (EMN): With an aim to promote culture, tourism, textile and talents of Northeast people, the Delhi Fashion club (DFC) Dimapur in association with Nagaland Garo Tribal Council (NGTC) jointly organised a fashion sequence ‘International Reinvent Northeast’ in Dimapur on Nov. 22.
An update issued on Nov. 22 informed that the fashion sequence was held during the two-day Wangala cum 1st Mini Hornbill Festival held in Dimapur on Nov. 21 and the 22nd.
Prior to the festival, auditions were held in Nagaland and Meghalaya wheren 19 models were selected. 18 models were from the Garo tribe living in Nagaland and one from Shillong.
The selected models underwent training and grooming workshop sessions organised by DFC in association with Lakme Academy, GS Road, Guwahati for 2 days in Dimapur.
The show included the promotion of colourful handlooms and cultural Garo traditional fusion wear amalgamated with Garo tribal accessories.
During the event, DFC selected 6 models namely Holina Momin, Molina Momin, Vinitoli, Shilla Ch Marak, Tunali and Momulin to be the DFC models for upcoming events.
The event is also said to have marked the launch of DFC Dimapur chapter aiming to promote the talent of Nagaland.
The event choreographed by celebrity fashion director and YouTube personality Harshit Dhingaun. He is said to be a former channel V Fame Reality star and have been working with Bollywood celebrities.
Stylist and showmanager was Sharmila Momin. DFC Show coordinator for the event was Rahul D Sangma. Make-up and hair partner for the show was Lakme Academy.
Special guest for the show was Vikali A. Zhimomi, State President, Women’s wing, Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDDP).
She gave away the certificate to all the models while appreciating such initiative towards women empowerment and on promoting the rich culture and tourism of Northeast.
In past, the DFC is said to have been associated with Asian designer week, International fashion week in Goa, IFW Chandigarh and India Fashion week designers as well.
Since last 6 years, the DFC has been promoting Northeast talents in mainland India through series of events and YouTube videos.
DFC is a fashion management association founded in 2016 by celebrity fashion director Harshit Dhingaun that aims to boost fashion industry and help the talented people across India.
DFC has named the initiative as Reinvent Northeast.
The team is now planning to launch more chapters in Shillong and Dimapur to promote and cover complete Northeast slowly.
