Loyola, St. Joseph’s HS schools win Inter-High School Kho Kho Championship

VISWEMA — Loyola Higher Secondary School, Jakhama, won the 2nd Inter-High School Kho Kho Championship in the men’s category on Friday night in Viswema, Kohima, with Sacred Heart High School Khuzama finishing second. The competition was held at John Government Higher Secondary School.

The two semi-finalists were St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School, Viswema, and St. Paul School, Phesama.

In the women’s category, St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School, Viswema, won the championship title, while Viswema Baptist School secured the runner-up position. Sacred Heart High School, Khuzama, defeated John Government Higher Secondary School, Viswema, to claim the third position.

In the men’s category, Noketol Rhetso was awarded the title of Best Chaser, and Huozüsie Nyuwi received the title of Best Runner. For the women’s category, Mecievinü Chaya claimed the title of Best Chaser, while Mesetsonü Theyo secured the title of Best Runner.

A coaching camp, which was also held as part of the event, concluded on Saturday at Viswema. Over 150 students from ten schools competed in the championship and attended the camp organised by the Nagaland Kho Kho Association (NKKA).

Vikehielie Victor, president of the NKKA, informed Eastern Mirror that they would be shortlisting players to represent Nagaland in the upcoming 56th Senior National Kho Kho Championship (men and women), which will be held in Delhi from March 28 to April 1.
