Lotha Students’ Union Martyr’s Trophy concludes

Wokha, May 9 (EMN): The 18th edition of LSU Martyr’s trophy concluded with huge spectators turn out to support both the teams of Vungoju FC and LMRSU on Tuesday, May 9 where Vungoju FC won by 2-0 margin.
The first half saw a stiff game play for both the teams.
In the first half LMRSU missed two golden chances in the 27th minute from a right flank shot that went straight to the goal keeper and another shot that went off the mark and struck the goal post in the 43rd minute.
The match was crucial since both the teams ended goalless in the first half.
The second half saw Vungoju FC scoring the first goal through Lipio after a header found the net through a flag kick in the 73rd minute. Vungoju FC found the net for the second time through the boots of George in the 87th minute of play to seal the match 2-0. A short closing ceremony was conducted with James Tungoe, General Secretary of Wokha District Entrepreneurs Association (WDEA) as the guest of honour who reminded the participants on the importance of football as a game that can strengthen a relationship, forgiveness and unity. The welcome address was delivered by President, LSU Lipemo M Tsopoe.
Winner Vungoju FC collected the trophy along with Rs. 45000/- cash price and certificate while LMRSU collected the runners up trophy with cash price of Rs. 25000/- and certificate.
Best Player of the Tournament: Victor of LMRSU
Best Defender: Thomas of Vungoju FC
Best Goal Keeper: O. Emithung Shitiri of Renchumren
Highest goal scorer: Yenshalo Rengma of Vungoju FC.
