The second W Nokdenlemba Volleyball trophy kicked off today by Dr Temsuwati at Multi-purposed Sport Complex.
The tourney is organized by the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) under the theme “one Team One Spirit”.
The chief guest in his addressed expressed that many youths today portray to get a well paid job after they completes their academic, instead of exploring their hidden talents which will serve them better in days to come.
He also maintained that each individual have gifted talents which we must explored to service the people.
He also encouraged the players to look beyond the horizon to excellent in their filed because at the end they are preparing and achieving their goal for the interest of the community.
The retired government official reminded that the inception of AKM in 1929 under the president-ship of W Nokdenlemba was significant turning point in Naga history. He added it was in the year 1929 that the Nagas declared their will to live freely to the Simon Commission delegation.
He also lauded the AKM for organizing this tourney as a tribute to the pioneer W Nokdenlemba, who had contributed a lot in the forerun of the Ao and the Nagas. He also pronounced “I am proud to be Ao….and as an Ao one must act and behave like an Ao.”
The AKM president L Jemti Longchar in his welcome address announced that the AKM is ready to felicitate the sportspersons and athletics with certificates and cash prizes, who ever bring laurels in national and international level.
Altogether 12 teams are participating in tourney. In the first match the Longsa Sporting Club Mokokchung defeated the Longjang Compound Youth Club in just two sets 25-14; 25-9. In the second match the Merangkong Students’ Union defeated Chakpa Friends United Club by 25-14, 25-20.
Third match the Lakhuni Sporting Club also claimed triumph over Tongden Club Chungtia ‘B’ by 25-15; 25-13. The Ao Students’ Conference team also secured their first win over Dolphin Club Mekuli by 25-4; 25-15.
