Longleng civil bodies sets up community home isolation centre
Dimapur, May 25 (EMN): A 25-bedded community home isolation centre for Longleng district was inaugurated on Tuesday. The centre is an initiative of the Phom People’s Council, Phom Student’s Conference, Phomla Hoichem, Phom Baptist Christian Association, and 11 ward unions, an update informed.
The centre was inaugurated in the presence of D Robin Zeliang ADC, Yanithung Ezung SP Longleng, Trongdiba Sangtam SDO (Civil), Chief Medical Officer Dr. Obangjungla, Dy. CMO Dr. Philip Kent, and Dr. Kibang, Medical Superintendent District Hospital.
Tialemba Phom, Executive Secretary of Phom Baptist Christian Association, while delivering the keynote address, highlighted the initiative of the civil society organisations of Longleng stating that the centre was set up in order to help contain the spread of coronavirus in the district.
It stated that the centre has been set up in support of the government in fighting the pandemic.
“Any person who is tested positive whether asymptomatic or symptomatic can come and stay there as per the government SOP and guidelines,” it read.
He further stated that a community isolation centre was set up as many people don’t have the facilities at home for self-isolation.
He also said that the ultimate goal of the community home isolation centre was service to humanity. Phom also gave a clarion call to everyone citing that everyone should come together, join hands and fight the pandemic. He also requested the ward presidents to notify the in-charge of the community home isolation centre if anyone from their ward is detected positive, so that the person can come and isolate himself/herself at the isolation centre.
Short speeches were delivered by D Robin Zeliang, Yanithung Ezung, Dr. Obangjungla, president of Phom Student’s Conference and president of Longleng Town Ward Union. Earlier the invocation prayer was pronounced by Shamthai Phom, president of Phomla Hoichem. Dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Rev. Beau, Pastor Longleng Town Baptist Church. The programme was attended by all representatives of district administration, Police, Health department and NGOs.
