Longleng board meets for September agenda

Dimapur, Sep. 11 (EMN): The District Planning and Development Board of Longleng met on September 6 at the DC’s conference hall. The meeting was presided over by the district’s Deputy Commissioner Y Denngan Avennoho Phom, DIPR updates earlier this week informed.

The chairman thanked the officers for the ‘successful conduct’ of Independence Day celebrations and the drill in the district. He appealed for cooperation and urged the officials to ‘maintain cordial relations when working on tasks in the district.’

On the forthcoming general election, the official informed that all of them will be assigned duties. He asked the officers to be present in their places of posting.

A member of the PPC also spoke during the meeting. The unnamed member reminded officers to be in their posting to address the grievances and problems of the people. The officers were thanked for their contribution and support in the renovation of the Longleng-Changtongya road. He advised the officers in-charge to initiate steps for construction of security-fencing in their respective offices to prevent encroachment.

On the issue of utilization of money donated by the parliamentary secretary for Rural Development Pangnyu Phom, during the Independence Day celebration, the PPC informed of a resolution to utilize it for the drivers’ union, PPC and district administration.

Also, the deputy commissioner urged the PPC to utilize that money judiciously for the development of the district and asked the parties in concern to submit their report about the execution of works and details of expenditure.

An official from the establishment of the additional deputy commissioner of Longleng also reminded the departments who are yet to submit their ‘contribution for repair of roads’ to submit it to the SDO (civil) of Longleng at the earliest.

Also, the executive engineer of the PHED Benjongtoshi submitted a proposal and a Detailed Project Report for supply of water to Longleng headquarter. Highlighting the project, he suggested forwarding it to the ministry of Development of North East Region through the Planning department for early implementation. The board decided to recommend and forward the matter to the ministry through the Planning department for early implementation of the project.

Further, the board approved and recommended a proposal for the establishment of a ‘higher secondary science and commerce’ section at Bautung Memorial Higher Secondary School in Longleng; and registration and recognition of Mount Sinai School at Hukphang village.

In other matters, the DAO of Longleng, Dr. DK Chetri apprised the members of the board about the harmful effects of pesticide and other chemicals and fertilizers. He suggested creating awareness on the issue.

Supplementing the official, the chief medical officer of Longleng Dr. Ritu informed that the Medical department has banned DDT due to its ‘misuse’ by the public.

The additional deputy commissioner of Tamlu T Renabemo Odyuo reported landslides and road blockages under his jurisdiction. Informing that the matter has been reported to the administration and the Public Works department (roads and bridges), he requested the department in concern to clear the roads at the earliest.
