DIMAPUR — Officials of the Langpangkong Students’ Conference (LKM), LKM Road Coordinator Committee (LKMRCC), PWD (NH) department, authority engineer and KKB Rülho Construction Company on August 9 inspected the NH-02 construction and witnessed positive changes along the Unger to Tuli Tzürangra stretch.
An update from LKM, however, stated that concerns remain regarding the quality of workmanship. It, therefore, called upon the Naga people to preserve and enhance their land rather than harm it.
The LKM has issued a stern warning against any disruptions by individuals or groups during the ongoing road construction, emphasising their readiness to take necessary action.
LKM president, Imlinok, has urged the company, authority engineer and the department representatives to expedite the work and complete on time. LKM affirmed that it is prepared to enforce measures if the work does not meet expected standards in the future.
“Any disruptions will trigger the LKM’s independent action, emphasising the project’s critical importance. The letter submitted to the deputy commissioner on July 26, 2024, retains its significance until the specified work is satisfactorily completed,” LKM said.
It mentioned that the measure was initiated as the NH-02 passing through Langpangkong has caused concern due to challenges faced by the commuters.
It stated that the construction by KKB Rülho Construction Company has been under scrutiny for inadequate progress, prompting extensive discussions and setting deadline of July 30, 2024, for the deputy commissioner to address the issue and ensure proper work. LKM had issued a warning of potential consequences if improvements are not made.
In response, a meeting was convened by the DC of Mokokchung on July 29 at his office conference hall, where the Rülho Construction Company requested an extension until August 8.
Subsequently, it was agreed that stakeholders including the LKM would inspect the road on August 9.
