Literary competition marks International Literacy Day in Tobu village

DIMAPUR — The Child Protection Committee (CPC), Tobu village celebrated International Literacy Day in collaboration with Development Association of Nagaland (DAN) by conducting a literary competition for the students of Government Middle School and Government Primary School at Community Hall in Tobu village on Friday.

An update received here on Friday informed that a total of 30 students participated in poem recitation, painting and quiz competition. It added that two persons — Andrew Chongo and P Metchai – sponsored the cash prize for the literary events, while the DAN Dimapur sponsored exciting prizes for the winners and participants.

Earlier in the day, a short programme was held to mark International Literacy Day in the presence of Tobu Village Council, Tobu Village Students’ Union, women society, teaching faculty of government schools, DAN and CPC Tobu.

Y Khangnyu, P/T GMS, enlightened the gathering by throwing light on the pressing issues related to literacy and urged the people to eradicate illiteracy, according to the update.
